How we make custom foot orthotics

1. Biomechanical assessment and gait analysis

This assessment is very important when making a foot orthotic because it identifies the patient’s specific concerns and supports the creation of an orthotic adapted to their individual needs.

2. Taking an impression in a foam box

The next step is to take an impression of the plantar arch using a mould. This impression serves as the model for making the orthotic.

3. Pouring plaster into your foot impressions

We pour plaster into your impressions to reproduce the shape of your feet.

4. Adjusting the plaster models of your feet

This step is very important when making the foot orthotic because we adjust the support points to reduce pressure under your feet.

5. Cutting the orthotic materials

We cut selected materials to prepare the foot orthotic and adapt it to the shape of your foot obtained from the plaster mould. We use Portuguese cork, which is known for its quality.

6. Moulding

We heat the materials in an oven so they can be moulded over the three-dimensional plaster models of your feet.

7. Our orthotists sand the foot orthotics

Sanding the foot orthotics provides optimal cleaning and shaping for a precise finished product.

8. Finishing the foot orthotics

We add comfort elements such as heel cushioning, a metatarsal bar and more.
