Custom made foot orthotics
The custom made foot orthotic is one of the specialties of Laboratoire Orthopédique Jérôme Marier. It is handmade in order to personalize our services.
Since 1985, Jérôme Marier has been an orthotist-prosthetist and has designed many custom-made foot orthotics during his career. His knowledge and experience have allowed him to develop effective impression techniques that offer unique corrective effects.
Foot orthotics can be used to treat foot and lower limb pain and to realign posture. They can also be prescribed to treat many foot pathologies. When combined with orthopedic shoes, foot orthotics can reduce foot, ankle, calf, knee, hip and back pain.
Think you need foot orthotics?
Foot orthoses have a powerful effect on the health of your body and can solve many problems.
How do foot orthotics work?
The primary role of a foot orthosis, also known as an orthotic, is to provide support and stability to the feet, helping to evenly distribute pressure on the feet and correct biomechanical imbalances that can cause pain or problems with walking.
Today, it is difficult to find quality footwear with soles and structures that promote the health of our feet. And since we often walk on hard surfaces, our feet and our entire bone structure are put to the test.
The role of foot orthotics can therefore be summarized as follows:
In fact, foot orthotics are one of the most effective solutions to prevent the risk of pain and avoid any posture problem. Every part of the body is linked to our feet, and the slightest anomaly can have repercussions on our bones and muscles.
How do foot orthotics work ?
Foot orthotics can act on a variety of conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuroma or tibial periostitis.
Far from being limited to foot disorders, orthotics also influence the behaviour of other parts of the body, including the knee, hip, back, and even the shoulders.
It is therefore important to consider the impact of our foot positioning when suffering from pain in other areas of our body! The earlier the foot orthotics are worn, the more beneficial they will be for the patient.
Different types of foot orthoses for different patients
At Laboratoire Orthopédique, we design custom-made foot orthotics for all patients and even children, from the age of 3. Because of their greater flexibility, childhood is the best time to act and correct posture.
We also intervene to relieve the diabetic foot. An orthopedic insole can be beneficial by providing extra support and cushioning for areas at risk of high pressure, correcting biomechanical abnormalities and improving blood circulation. This can reduce the pain and discomfort associated with peripheral neuropathy and prevent foot ulcers.
Athletes and the elderly can also benefit from the good effects of the foot orthosis. Because of our custom design, we can tailor our materials and the flexibility of each orthotic to fit any foot type.

Custom made foot orthotics for an optimal adaptation to your feet
The know-how and expertise of the Jérôme Marier Orthopedic Laboratory’s orthotists allow them to design top quality foot orthotics.
Because of our concern for personalized care, we prefer manual manufacturing of foot orthotics for greater precision than robotic manufacturing. The accuracy and efficiency of this method ensures a product that stands out from the current offer on the market. Here is how our orthotists proceed :
«One of our priorities is to offer you a quality product. Thus, we select first choice components and materials to design your foot orthotics, such as Portuguese cork.»
The benefits of a custom design for your orthotics
A custom foot orthotic design offers several significant advantages over prefabricated foot orthotics. In fact, custom-made foot orthotics are made from three-dimensional casts of the foot, allowing for a precise adjustment to the morphological and functional characteristics of the foot.
This precision adjustment allows us to optimize the redistribution of plantar loads and to correct your specific biomechanical imbalances. According to the data we recover following our analyses and examinations, we can really correct and relieve in the best way what is affecting you. The results are there!
Thanks to our expertise and the quality of our products, our custom-made foot orthotics are unique in Quebec.
